a different way to learn a language

A method that learns who you are before teaching you a language.

SpeakAsYou builds every lesson from your portrait — your goals, your voice, what holds you back. Conversation comes before grammar.

What your portrait captures

Your level
Placed on the A1 → C1 scale: it’s your starting point, not a grade.
Your goal
In your own words — your lessons are built around it.
What holds you back
Named in black and white — Léa takes it into account from your very first lesson.
Your recurring mistakes
Spotted from the start — every lesson’s warm-up targets them.

One method, many reasons to learn

Everyone learns for a reason of their own. Your portrait asks for yours, and your lessons stay within it.

For your working life

A job interview, a meeting, an email to write: if that is what makes you learn, your role-plays start from there.

To travel and live abroad

Getting by on the spot, asking the way, telling a story, meeting people: if that is your goal, your lessons draw on it.

How it works

01

You answer a few questions

Ten questions about what you want to say, to whom, and what trips you up today. Nothing to install, nothing to pay.

02

Lea writes your portrait

Your level, your goals and your recurring mistakes, written out plainly. You read it before deciding anything.

03

Your lessons start there

Every lesson is written for you, from that portrait. You speak, Lea listens and picks you up.

One journey, three acts

Five levels, from A1 to C1, in three acts. That is the backbone of the journey: the CEFR is a landmark, never a syllabus.

A1 · A2

Act I — Discover yourself

Dare to say your first words, and get by anywhere.

B1 · B2

Act II — Repair yourself

Speak without stopping, uproot the mistakes you have repeated for years, hold your ground with anyone.

C1

Act III — Set yourself free

The language is yours. We declare you ready, and we push you out the door.

What each level means

Not labels: at each level, concrete things you can do. The CEFR scale is a reference point, never a syllabus.

  1. A1Act I

    Dare your first words

    from silent to understood

    • Say who you are without searching for words for ten seconds
    • Understand and ask simple everyday questions
    • Greet, thank, ask — without freezing
  2. A2Act I

    Get by anywhere

    from lost to independent

    • Order, buy, ask for directions
    • Talk about your day, your plans, a memory
    • Handle the unexpected — a missed train, a wrong order — without panicking
  3. B1Act II

    Speak without stopping

    from hesitant to fluent

    • Hold a real conversation that lasts, without freezing
    • Give your opinion, agree or disagree — with nuance
    • Follow your shows and games in the original version
  4. B2Act II

    Stand your ground with anyone

    from textbook to spontaneous

    • Debate, argue, defend your point of view
    • Understand a film, a podcast, a meeting without subtitles
    • Get through an oral exam or an interview without panic cutting you off
  5. C1Act III

    The language is yours

from good student to free speaker

    • Express yourself with finesse, humour and spontaneity — like you
    • Handle complex or delicate situations effortlessly
    • Stop thinking about the language: it has become yours

What ten minutes look like

A daily lesson takes about ten minutes, and it always has the same shape.

01

Warm-up

Three targeted exercises — complete, correct, translate — calibrated on the mistakes your portrait picked up.

02

Real situation

A conversation with Léa, by voice or in writing, around a concrete goal: ordering at a restaurant and asking for the bill. She corrects you as you go, without cutting you off.

03

Wrap-up

Your XP, your streak, and the mistake of the day joining your record — Léa will know to bring it back later.

What changes

Your lessons look like nobody else’s

No shared syllabus, no generic level. The exercises target your own mistakes, and disappear once those are rooted out.

Speaking comes first

The voice is the centre: you say what you have to say, Lea picks up what catches. Grammar comes in to explain, not to open.

Text mode stays unlimited

Whatever your plan, you write as much as you want. Only the voice is metered, and never to the point of blocking you.

And then

Your portrait is free and stays yours. The plans come afterwards, once you know what they are for.

See the plans

“Yet another language app?”

Just another app like all the others?

No. Before your first lesson, your portrait records your level, what you want to say, to whom, and what holds you back. Every lesson is then written from it: we learn who you are first, and build the language on top.

I always start over from scratch and give up.

Here, every lesson aims at your goal, in your own words. And the mistakes you repeat are tracked from one lesson to the next: we come back to them until they are uprooted.

Is AI as good as a real teacher?

Léa does not replace a teacher. She lets you practise at your own pace, by voice or in writing, and corrects you as the conversation goes. And at the end of the path, we push you towards real conversations, with real people.

Who are you, in this language?

The free portrait does not just measure your level: it also records what you want to say, and what holds you back. No card, and no account needed.
